Kahoot is a website where teachers can use quizzes in the form of games for assessing formative progress. Students use computers, cell phones, or other devices to join in the games. The teacher can create flashcards, upload videos and use Kahoot as part of the curriculum, or students can create review games to share with each other. Although the teacher can see overall how the class is doing, there is not quantitative data to demonstrate which students are truly logging into their accounts as themselves.
A teacher can use Kahoot to create a discussion forum, quiz, or survey!
A teacher can also upload videos or images for each question when developing a quiz.
I like the style of this assessment tool online much better than others I have used before. It's similar to surveymonkey too, but only the survey part.
I didn't know about Kahoot before. I like the idea that quizzes can be made in game formats. Thanks for sharing about this!
ReplyDeleteI second that - I had never heard of Kahoot before, but it looks like a great way to get the whole class engaged! I also like how you say it not only lets both teachers and students create review games and quizzes, but it also lets the teacher create a class discussion forum as well. I can see a lot of great potential for this CALL program on a WebQuest. Nice choice!
ReplyDeleteKahoot is a great tool. Kind of similar to Quizlet or Socrative but more visually appealing. Yet, I do have doubt about why they can claim the review exercises as "game-based". To me, they are still quizzes used in class. I do not see the game component in it. I am not saying it is ineffective. I just disagree it can be seen as a review game.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I have used Kahoot, it has been a lot of fun. The students really enjoy using their mobile devices, and it also works in the language lab on PCs. There is however real competition to be the first to answer the questions.
